Today marks our one year anniversary at eBible.com and that is pretty exciting. It was only a few months ago that my wife and I celebrated our first year anniversary actually. Anniversaries are a great time to pause and reflect on the things that we have learned, the fun times behind us and also to look ahead with anticipation of many more exciting years ahead. That is what we have been doing around here at eBible.com and very soon you are going to see the fruit of some tough reflection, hard work and a renewed passion and dedication to our vision. A few months ago we decided that we needed to take yet another crack at redesigning the user interface for the site. Our vision is for an electronic Bible, an eBible, a Bible that is unlike anything ever been done before and yet holds the unchanging Word of God at the heart of it. We pushed the limits over a year and a half ago when we launched the eBible.com alpha and have learned sooooo much since that time. You guys have given us oodles of feedback and suggestions and some we have had a chance to implement and others we put on the shelf to revisit later. The eBible.com community has grown from a handful of friends and colleagues to tens of thousands dedicated people seeking God through His Word at the site. This is exciting. But we want more. God gave us a vision for eBible.com and with technology continuing to improve on the Web we are that much closer to realizing it.
All the above is summed up by saying that we have something big in store for you. Instead of working on smaller features the last few months we have dedicated most of our time towards a complete redesign of eBible.com. The goal is something that is more simple, much faster and yet can be used in so many different ways that we can't even guess them all right now. Everyone's bookmarks (notes and topics) will carry across nicely and there will be a time of transition where you can use either the new interface or stick with the current one. All premium users will serve as our beta group this time around because their support of the site is what has enabled this large undertaking. More news will come soon but for now we just want to celebrate one full year with you and let you know that the year ahead is sure to be an exciting time ahead.
Many blessings to you as you continue to love God and love others that He has placed around you.
- Team eBible

My pastor closed his message on Sunday by reading a passage from “The Heavenly Man”, a book about Chinese pastor and teacher Brother Yun. He asked the question of us, “How many Bibles do you have at home?” and I guessed about a dozen. At least. Then he questioned if maybe we have TOO MANY Bibles – too much access to God’s Word that we often take it for granted. The other day when explaining what I do to someone I just met, they replied “Isn’t there already a ton of other Bible websites out there?!”. Most of us in First World do have easy access to God’s Word including right here at eBible.com. Listen to the story of Brother Yun for a refreshing and encouraging perspective:
Brother Yun was 16 at the time. The family did not have a Bible, and it had been many years since Yun’s mother had heard any teaching about Jesus. Yun began to ask his mother who Jesus truly was. She would reply, “Jesus is the Son of God who died on the cross for us, taking all our sins and sicknesses. He recorded all his teachings in the Bible.” Yun would ask if there were any way he could learn of the teachings of Jesus for himself. His mother would say, “No. All his words are gone. There is nothing left of his teaching.” Imagine a family hungering and thirsting for some knowledge of the words of God, and no way to find out what they were!
Yun’s mother took him on a long walk to see a man in another village who she remembered had a Bible. The man was too afraid to show Yun his Bible, but he told him, “The Bible is a heavenly book. If you want one, you’ll need to pray to the God of heaven. Only He can provide you a heavenly book. God is faithful. He always answers those who seek Him with all of their heart.”
Yun decided to fast and pray for a Bible, and for the next 100 days ate only one bowl of steamed rice every day. He cried out to the Lord for a Bible. His parents thought he was losing his mind. One morning, there was a knock at the door. Two men had brought a Bible to Yun.
Three months before, an evangelist in another town had been instructed by the Lord in a vision to give his Bible to Brother Yun. Although he did not know this young boy, the Lord had showed him the village and house where Yun lived in a vision. It had taken him three months to decide to obey the Lord.
Yun began to devour the Word of God. Even though he could hardly read, every day, he would painstakingly look up one character at a time as he advanced through the Bible. When he had finished reading in this way through the whole Bible, he started memorizing one chapter per day. In 28 days, he had memorized the gospel of Matthew, and then started on the book of Acts.
We pray that each of us and each one of our user’s would develop the same passion and hunger for reading, studying and memorizing God’s Word. Over the next few weeks we will be releasing a couple of new features to help you in the journey of reading the Holy Bible that God wrote for us to know Him and follow Him. But all the technology and bells and whistles won’t help us if we don’t see the importance of and the gift that the Bible is, and then respond by actually reading and studying it!

Hey all, so I have spent the last few days adding a bit of a new face to the eBible front page. Since we introduced the ability for people to add their pictures and profile info, we have watched in amazement at how many people have been doing it. We wanted to bring this right out front and show everyone who else is using eBible.com. We also wanted an easy way to show you the latest notes people were adding, as well as some recent popular topics people were tagging verses with. Let us know what you think about this and if there were something else perhaps you would like to see up front there. I gotta give Mark kudos for working hard this last week on the Javascript API and taking what I had originally done to the next level; it is really starting to get cool now! Besides the above there has also been a bunch of small bugs and things cleaned up as usual.
There are so many different things we (Team eBible) can spend our time on here and we need your help prioritizing as always. The general vision is making eBible a place for Christians to come together around God’s Word. We dream of a place where people are studying the Bible with others from around the world as well as people in their local church and small groups.
There are always bug fixes and user interface tweaks to do, but as far as functionality and new features, what do you guys think eBible is lacking in? Post a comment, start up a discussion, we really need to keep hearing from you!

I wanted to send out a quick post to all the individuals, ministries, bloggers, business and Christian organizations who have inquired about advertising opportunities on eBible.com.
We are happy to announce that effective today we are re-launching our Spotlight ad program (premium graphical and text based ads). Our earlier text based ad program (CrossAds) has been discontinued due to performance issues that were slowing down the speed of eBible.com. With that being said however, our premium advertising program (Spotlight) has been very well received and returned some strong results for those who organizations that utilized this ad program (especially after we introduced our new pricing).
As before, the Spotlight ad program only allows seven (7) rotating advertisements per month. With so few ads being displayed, our advertisers are guaranteed premium visibility, great value and 14% of all the traffic that is visiting eBible.com on a daily basis.
Currently pricing for March is very affordable, with aggressive rates as low as $50 a month to be one of the 7 graphic and text based Spotlight ads. With strong site traffic increases month over month, the ad pricing for March, April and May are a great bargain for the savvy marketer who knows the expense of other graphical ad placement alternatives available at other places.
To encourage early reservation and ad placement, we have lowered prices for those advertisers who place and ad early. Wait too long and you’ll have to pay a little more. To see the current availability of Spotlight ads for March, April or May or immediately reserve and place your ad, please click here
If you would like the full Spotlight program details, you can find them Visit here
Some other changes to the Spotlight Ad program:
We have implemented a fully automated, secure ad placement and payment system for our advertisers so that you can reserve, place and make payment on one of the 7 monthly Spotlight ad spots online in just minutes. This is a very quick and easy way for advertisers to get their product or service in front of the thousands of users who are using eBible.com on a daily basis with a minimal amount of time required.
You will also notice that we often refer to the “Spotlight Ad Network”. We are looking for premium Christian websites and bloggers who are interested in generating advertising revenue through the display of Spotlight Ads. So if you have a leading Christian website or blog that has substantial traffic and are interested in being apart of the “Spotlight Ad Network” e-mail me at sales@spotlightadnetwork.com
for the possible inclusion of your site to the Spotlight Ad Network.
Thanks.
Geoff LaFleur
